The Specialist Behind the Catalogue
Otaliven was founded by a nutrition professional whose practice spans strength conditioning, active recovery, and the documentation of men's daily supplement formulations in Brussels.
How the catalogue began — and why it remained independent.
Brussels, early 2021. The specialist — at the time maintaining a private nutrition practice focused on active men between 30 and 55 — began keeping a personal log of the supplement formulations his clients were encountering in the Belgian wellness market. The log was a cross-reference: ingredient source, serving schedule, third-party documentation status. Not a recommendation, but a record.
Over eighteen months, the log grew to cover 47 formulation entries. A pattern emerged: the same active-lifestyle supplements appeared repeatedly across different client profiles, but with sharply inconsistent ingredient transparency. Some carried certificates of composition. Many did not. Several listed botanical ingredients by common name only, without regional or varietal specification.
The decision to publish the log as the Otaliven catalogue followed a straightforward observation: no independent, non-retail index of men's daily supplement formulations existed in English for the Belgian and wider European active-lifestyle market. Otaliven filled that absence.
Qualified Nutrition Professional
Holds a postgraduate qualification in nutritional science with a focus on performance nutrition and the dietary requirements of physically active adults over 30. The qualification underpins the evidence-based approach taken across all catalogue entries.
Strength & Recovery Practice
A decade of working with active men across strength training, endurance, and active recovery protocols provides the practical context within which every formulation serving guide is developed.
Independent Research Practice
All formulation entries in the Otaliven catalogue are produced independently of supplement manufacturers. No sponsored entries, no affiliate relationships, no promotional considerations.
Documentation as a discipline.
Otaliven operates on a principle borrowed from archival practice: record what exists, not what should exist. The catalogue does not evaluate formulations against an ideal. It describes what a given composition contains, where those ingredients originate, and how the serving schedule is structured.
This approach means the catalogue covers formulations across a range of quality tiers. The documentation of a batch-verified, whole-food sourced formulation and the documentation of a less transparent one are both useful to a reader navigating the supplement market — the contrast itself is informative.
No commercial affiliations
Otaliven carries no advertising relationships, affiliate agreements, or promotional arrangements with supplement producers or distributors. Entries are selected solely on the basis of documentation quality.
Dated revision records
Every catalogue entry carries the date of its last review. Readers can see precisely when batch verification data was last updated, and when serving-guide revisions were applied.
Ingredient transparency requirement
A formulation with undisclosed ingredient proportions or missing supplier documentation is flagged accordingly. The catalogue does not suppress incomplete entries — it marks them transparently.
Professional consultation guidance
We recommend speaking with a qualified wellness or nutrition professional before introducing any supplement to your daily routine, particularly if you have specific dietary requirements. The catalogue is a reference, not a guidance service.
